ADMISSION

The Faculty of Social Sciences and Technology Management welcomes applications from qualified students from around the world and offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in a wide range of subject areas.

Exchange students
The majority of international students at the Faculty are exchange students who come to study for short periods of time, within the framework of exchange programmes or bilateral agreements between their institution and NTNU. If your institution presently has no agreement, you are welcome here as an international self-financing student. Exchange students typically attend NTNU for short periods lasting between 3-12 months and return to their home university at the end of the exchange period. Those students invited by NTNU for short periods of between 3 and 12 months are enrolled at their home university and do not have to meet NTNU admission requirements (e.g. language requirements).

The normal language of instruction, with some exceptions, is Norwegian, however there are many courses taught in English. Exams can be arranged in English and in the majority of the cases textbooks are in English or alternative titles in English will be recommended. Project work can always be supervised in English. Students can learn Norwegian at the intensive summer course or one of the Norwegian classes offered in the autumn and the spring. You will find information on these courses on the International Office's web site.

Degree seeking students
We also accept international students that are eligible for degree studies at the Faculty. Degree seeking students must meet the basic requirement for admission and the Norwegian language requirements (except those who plan to study MPhil in Development Studies, MPhil in Childhood Studies or MPhil in Human Development).

Currently the Faculty of Social Sciences and Technology Management offers no bachelor's degree programmes taught in English; however, the MPhil in Development Studies and MPhil in Childhood Studies and MPhil in Human Development are master's programmes taught in English, and so are several individual courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
