Education

The objective of Noragric's education programmes is to educate students with increased awareness, analytical capacity and research-based knowledge in the fields of environment and development studies and to strengthen the institutional capacity of Noragric's partners in these areas.

The study options at Noragric include a Bachelor programme, two Master's programmes and a PhD programme. Our web-based courses are an option for those preferring distance learning. All programmes have an interdisciplinary approach and focus on the challenges linked to the concept of sustainable development as an interdisciplinary field of study. Noragric is also active in relation to education and development cooperation policies.

The Education programme is headed by the Head of Education. An Education Committee advises the Head of Education and supports the programme.

Networking through former students

Noragric has formal cooperation agreements with 12 academic institutions in the South and 11 in South-East Europe besides the close working relationship it has with other institutions. Former Master’s students are important networks especially because many are linked to relevant institutions in their home countries. These graduates have first hand information and insight into their countries' political priorities and can assist Noragric with information about development opportunities and constraints.

Noragric Master’s graduates have formed graduate networks through three secretariats: Tanzania, Ethiopia and Nepal. Information about access to these alumni networks can be obtained at Noragric.

Institutional Cooperation

The majority of Noragric's institutional cooperation activities are with universities in developing countries in the South and in Eastern Europe. The general purpose of most of the agreements is capacity development, knowledge generation and institutional development. Some agreements have been in place for several decades.
