Research
As an academic institution, research is an important element in all of Noragric's activities. It is closely linked to both the education programmes and the assignments undertaken by staff and an important element in the institutional cooperation programmes.

Noragric has a
Head of Research who heads the Research Committee and is responsible for the research programme at Noragric, initiating and co-ordinating research activities and integrating research with education and assignments.
The Research Committee is also responsible for the
PhD programme in Development Studies. Many of Noragric's research activities are carried out through
institutional cooperation with partner institutions in countries in the South and in Eastern Europe.
Noragric's main
competence areas that form the basis for the research and education programmes, as well as assignments, are Agricultural development and livelihood security; Biodiversity and natural resource management; and Rights, conflicts, poverty and well-being.
Several cross-cutting themes bridge these three programmes: policy, ecological zones (drylands, coastal zones, highlands), gender, participation, inter- and cross-disciplinarity, community development, urban/rural relations, partnership and capacity building.
