How to add a news item

This describes the procedure for adding a news item to this portal.

News items are shown in the News box on the left of the web site. Each item is stored as a small file. News items can be added to anywhere on the site, but to be tidy we are keeping them all in the same folder.

To add a news item:

1. go to this folder News
2. select add new item -> news item
3. enter the details of the news item, then save
4. remember to select state: visible for the news item.

If you have a file to go with the news, such as a pdf article, then upload that first to News, giving it a short name that you can remember, and link to it from the news items text using the structured text expression News/shortname (substituting shortname with the actual short name that you used of course!).
