Goals and areas of responsibility
The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration's (UDI) goal is that Norwegian immigration and refugee policy be conducted as efficiently, correctly and considerately as possible.
This goal requires speedy and correct processing of all applications and a broad commitment on behalf of the many individuals who come to Norway for different reasons.
It is important to the UDI that everyone who settles in Norway is integrated as fully as possible. In collaboration with municipalities and other authorities, we constantly strive to promote integration through receptions centres, workplaces and other amenities in local communities.
Important areas of responsibility for the UDI:
- Processing applications, e.g. for:
- visas
- residence permits
- work permits
- citizenship
- asylum - Immigration control
