Service
The UDI wishes to provide good service to its users. When you contact us, you should receive correct information, quickly and in a friendly manner.
The UDI Service Declaration (which is currently being revised) provides information about processing times, rights to appeal, confidentiality, access to case information and fees, and tells you where you can find more information.
The declaration applies to everyone applying for asylum, visas, work permits, residence permits, family immigration, Norwegian citizenship, study permits, travel documents and financial assistance for voluntary return on rejection of asylum applications, as well as to lawyers or other persons with power of attorney.
You can expect the UDI to:
- Ensure that relevant and correct information is available to you
- Treat you in a friendly and respectful manner
- Have the necessary competence and handle your case professionally
- Tell you which information the Directorate needs in order to process your application
- Notify you that your application has been received and inform you of the expected processing time for your case, if you have an address in Norway. You will also be notified when your case is handed over to other case workers, such as the Police, the Immigration Appeals Board or The Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion . EEA permits and travel document cases are not included in this arrangement.
- Provide you as an asylum seeker with information about case processing and your rights and obligations through an information programme prior to your interview
- Continuously consider what can be done to shorten case processing time
