A permit may be withdrawn

A permit may be withdrawn if:
  • You have given false information or have neglected to include important information which may have an impact on the decision.
  • Rules under general administrative law dictate such action.
  • You do not meet the terms or conditions set out in the Immigration Act, the Immigration Regulation or the decision.

Withdrawal of a work or residence permit means that you are obliged to leave Norway, unless you meet the conditions for receiving a permit on other grounds.

The Directorate of Immigration (UDI) makes the decision on withdrawal. If the UDI believes that there are grounds for withdrawal, they will generally inform you of this fact, so that you have the opportunity to comment before they make their decision. You are also entitled to appeal against a decision on withdrawal. A withdrawal which would force you to leave Norway cannot be implemented until the decision is final. This means that you are entitled to remain in Norway as long as your case is being processed.
