Diplomat
Diplomats do not require a work or residence permit. However, you must be registered with the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs or another applicable Norwegian authority. This also applies to foreign nationals who are support staff at a diplomatic or consular mission or who are in the private employ of a diplomat. No permission will be granted for any other additional work.
Conditions for spouses/cohabitants and children of diplomats
The spouse or cohabitant and supported children of a diplomat are exempt from the requirement for a residence permit if they are approved and registered by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs or another applicable Norwegian authority. If they wish to apply for a work permit, the application must be submitted to the police. The application may be submitted in Norway. They must have a concrete offer of employment, and the wages and working conditions must not be worse than the applicable tariff agreement, wage scale or normal standard for the location and profession.
Any questions?
If you are still unsure about anything relating to how you apply for a permit to work on the Norwegian section of the continental shelf, you can contact your local Norwegian embassy or consulate, or
the Information Service (OTS).
