Seminar with Melanie Kan: Bridges to Somewhere: Building Interdisciplinary Research Collaborations
Monday, August 22nd, 2005Interdisciplinarity has recently become a focus of research and innovation in Australian universities. The traditional university structures, however, have not historically supported cross-faculty collaborations. This talk is about the challenges of working across faculties, forming and maintaining research teams, and producing measurable outcomes in one university setting. Three case studies of ongoing projects investigating sociotechnical issues are used to illustrate some of the challenges faced by researchers crossing the faculty divide.
