General InformationConference VenueThe conference will be held at Solstrand Fjord Hotel, one of Norway’s most distinguished hotels. Solstrand Fjord Hotel is situated on the shore of the “Bjørnefjord” close to the village of Os, only 30 km south of both Bergen city centre and Bergen Airport. The hotel has first class conference facilities and for a hundred years Solstrand’s exquisite location, beautiful surroundings and magnificent view of the Folgefonna glacier have fascinated visitors from near and afar. Solstrand Fjord Hotel provides the perfect setting for an international conference as well for midsummer festivities.

Travel arrangementsTravel to BergenBergen Airport has daily international services and frequent connections with other national airports. The airport, (only 15 km from the city), is connected to the city center by regular bus services. The bus takes approximately 30 minutes at a cost of NOK 60 per person. The price for a taxi is approximately NOK 300. There is also a bus service which departs from the airport and runs directly to the conference venue, Solstrand Fjord Hotel. The bus takes approximately 40 minutes at a cost of NOK 80 per person. (Schedule and details). The price for a taxi from the airport to the conference venue is approximately NOK 500. Early arrival/Transport from the city of Bergen to Solstrand Hotel/guided tourIn the case of an early arrival on Wednesday June 23rd we suggest that you take the airport bus to the centre of Bergen and get off the bus at the Radisson SAS Hotel Norge. From there it is only a 5 minute walk to the Psychology Faculty of the University of Bergen, where Kari Smith and Arild Raaheim, members of the Organising Committee, will welcome you in the lobby on the ground floor. You will be able to leave your luggage while you explore Bergen. A shuttle bus will depart from the Psychology building at 1430 on Wednesday June 23 taking you to Solstrand Fjord Hotel. The bus trip will also include a short guided tour through Bergen on its way to Solstrand.

ClimateIn June the temperature may be as high as 25 degrees Celsius with an average of 13 degrees Celsius. Bergen is known as "the rain city" in Norway, and it may very well rain even though spring is the best season for dry weather in Western Norway. Mid Summer Celebration June 23After dinner June 23 there will be an outdoor celebration of midsummer with the traditional bonfire. The dress code is casual. We hope for nice warm weather, but as the weather is unpredictable in Bergen, please bring warm clothes, rain gear an suitable shoes. LanguageThe official conference language is English.
