Our candidates are therefore attractive to a wide range of professions needed in the society, such as nursing, social education, vocational teaching, information and communication technology, product design, facility and service management and institutional catering management. These professions are also relevant in an international context.

One of our principle strategic aims is to be a modern centre of learning which provides expert tuition founded on research work produced by the highly experienced and qualified academic staff.

Within the last few years the board of the University College has established professorships within topics such as nutrition, preventive and health promoting work, and vocational education and training. The academic staff at Akershus University College are very well qualified within their professional fields.

Faculty of Product Design

Product Design studies embrace a combination of artistic insight, technical skills and craftsmanship, and the need for good design in our culture. The studies are mainly related to one of three materials; wood, metal or ceramics. The studies include project work, combined with practical work in the studio. As a student you will meet spacious, functional and modern workshops, studios, classrooms and lecture facilities.

Faculty of Nursing Education

The faculty has a long history of providing studies for health care professionals. Every June, after 3 years of study, about 100 candidates pass their final exam in nursing. After successfully completed their studies, the candidates are awarded a Bachelor´s degree in Nursing, and are also eligible for authorization as general nurses.

At campus, the students will meet modern study facilities such as authentic furnished hospital rooms for training, equipped with medical instruments. The faculty cooperates with the hospitals and the health sector in this region.

Faculty of Social Education

The faculty offers their bachelor students training for practitioners as Social Educators by following the Bachelor´s programme in Social Education. The study qualifies for providing holistic care and carrying out habilitation and rehabilitation work with people who are in need of such services. The faculty also offers continuing courses within the habilitation- and rehabilitation area. As a result of research and innovation work, a very exciting Master´s programme has been developed by the academic staff at the faculty.

Faculty of Technical  and Vocational Teacher Education

The majority of our students are studying at the Faculty of Technical and Vocational Teacher Education. Most of them are mature students with backgrounds in a wide variety of vocational fields.

The faculty offers several different Bachelor´s programmes and Master´s programmes.
The faculty also gives a great number of continuing courses, particularly for teachers.
