Our aim for incoming exchange students is to make the stay successful, first of all academically, but also socially and culturally. We recognize the importance of making extra curricular activities as rewarding and interesting as possible. The International Section works in collaboration with the Student Union to help us in reaching this goal.

Akershus University College is situated 22 km north-east of Oslo. An airport express train will take you from Oslo Airport Gardermoen to Lillestroem in 12 minutes. From Lillestroem, take bus no. 402 to Kjeller and the Akershus University College. From Oslo City Centre, there are several bus connections, the fastest being no. 431 from the Central Bus Terminal to Kjeller.

Information for incoming exchange students at Akershus University College, Norway

Arrival

Please reserve airplane tickets so that you will arrive on a weekday and early in the day. When we know the date and time of arrival, we will arrange for a student (mentor) to pick you up at the airport and escort you to the student home. The airport train uses 12 minutes to Lillestroem and the cost is NOK 120,-.

Pick-up for international students

Well in advance of coming to Norway, the student is requested to send information to the International Office about the exact time and place of arrival. Pick-up points and times will be allocated and a Norwegian student will be at one of three locations: either at Oslo Airport Gardermoen, which is located 20 minutes north of the campus by car, at the railway station in Lillestroem, 5 minutes from the campus by car, or at the Oslo Bus Terminal, downtown Oslo, 30 minutes from the campus by car. The Norwegian student will then accompany the exchange student to the student home at Aaraasen.

Grocery shopping

As soon as you arrive, a student mentor will help you buy groceries for the first days, and then he will escort you to Aaraasen, the student home. Inexpensive stores are Kiwi, Rema and Rimi.
