Multivariate Data Analysis 2005
About the Course
The theme for the course is to provide a practical overview of several research methods. The overall purpose of the course is to describe a number of different research methods and provide examples of how the methods can be applied to management research problems involving the collection and analysis of data. Much of the course involves “hands-on” application of the statistical techniques in a lab setting. Students will go home with an understanding of each of the techniques and when and how to use them to better understand data analysis. There will be an opportunity to meet with the faculty and discuss data analysis for your own project.
Practical Information
The course will be offered at Bodø University College from Tuesday 14 of June to Friday 17 of June, 2005. There is a registration fee at NOK 2200, which includes conference materials and lunches, dinners as well as a trip on Wednesday. However, travel and accommodation arrangements are the students' own responsibility and cost. For accommodation, we will recommend Hotel Norrøna in Bodø; phone: +47 7551 9060; email: post@hotell-norrona.no. Room prices are NOK 520 per night per person (single room). In order to get this price, please state that you are participating in a course arranged by Bodø University College (Høgskolen i Bodø) when you book your hotel room.
Student Credits
Participation at this course may give 6 Norwegian PhD student credits (equal to 20 % of a semester load). In order to gain half of these credentials, the student will have to submit an abstract by the 18 of May and participate in the course. The rest of the credentials are gained by submitting a paper relating to multivariate data analysis issues by 1 October 2005. There will be a “best paper award” of NOK 1.000. Faculty at Bodø Graduate School of Business will evaluate the paper.
Faculty
Faculty will be Professor Joe F. Hair, Jr., Louisiana State University and Professor Arthur Money, Henley Management College.
Deadlines
The deadline for registration is 18 of May 2005. Please submit the electronic registration form. Also, please send your abstract and your CV as attached documents on an e-mail to: Einar.Lier.Madsen@hibo.no. Because of limited space in the computer lab, we can allow a maximum of 18 PhD students to participate. If more than 18 register for the conference, we will give priority to the students who registered first. This has been a very popular course in the past so register early.

Recommendations for the CV, Abstract and the Paper
Recommendations for the CV
The CV should tell where in the PhD process you are, and your topic of interest.
Max: 250 words.
Recommendations for the Abstract
The paper should not be more than 3 pages long. It should describe how you have gathered data (or how you plan to gather data), your research model, and how you intend to measure your constructs. This would make the abstract much like a short version of your method chapter/section. It could contain an appendix with your questionnaire.
Recommendations for the Paper
The paper should be related to multivariate data analysis, and not exceed 30 pages.
Please submit the registration form and your CV as attached documents by e-mail to Einar.Lier.Madsen@hibo.no
