About InterMedia

InterMedia is an interdisciplinary research centre which investigates the intersections between design, communication and learning in digital environments. We have projects and a research lab for critical research, development and experiments in our subject fields.

InterMedia operates with a project-based and collaborative model of research organisation. All activities at InterMedia are related to external networks and partners, with an increased involvement in EU projects. InterMedia's director Sten Ludvigsen holds the position as scientific manager of Kaleidoscope, an EU Network of Excellence.

InterMedia coordinates strategic research activities at the University of Oslo: CMC - Competence and Media Convergence (2002 - 2007), Digital Design (2006 - 2009).

InterMedia's composite staff involves people with disciplinary backgrounds from three main areas: Educational/learning science, computer science/information systems and media studies. In our research projects we work together in teams that cross these fields of knowledge.

The research activities are organised in four clusters: Design and Learning in Education, ICT and Learning at Work, Communication Design and CaseDesign.

InterMedia's interdisciplinary and collaborative approach and focus on both research and development result in manifold outcomes, ranging from scientific publications and presentations to digital environments and video-based productions for learning, communication and research dissemination.
