Calibrate
Overview
CALIBRATE is a multi-level project designed to support the collaborative use and exchange of learning objects and digital resources in schools.
Aims
- carry out research into new ways to improve the semantic interoperability of learning resource descriptions
- further develop and implement a brokerage system architecture as the basis for a European Learning Resource Exchange
- develop an open source learning toolbox and explore to what extent IMS Learning Design is able to model collaborative learning processes and scenarios in order to support the collaborative use of learning resources
- validate CALIBRATE project results in up to 100 schools using an advanced validation methodology
Work in the project on semantic interoperability and the development of an open source, learning toolbox will make a significant contribution towards consolidating the expertise of leading researchers who are active in the fields of collaborative learning, curriculum mapping, Topic Maps, and IMS Learning
Design.
CALIBRATE is a service-oriented project whose key goal of the project is to add value to the services provided by national content portals and improve the ability of schools to easily locate and access a wider and more diverse collection of learning resources at a European level.
Partners
The project brings together eight Ministries of Education, (including six MoEs from new member states), leading research institutions, validation experts, technology providers and SMEs.
InterMedias role
- Leader of Work Package on semantic interoperability
- Research the candidate approaches for mapping and associating national curricula
- Topic Maps, RDF, OWL, DAML, CEN/ISSS WSLT
- Research to which extent IMS LD is able to model certain collaborative learning scenarios (model of progressive inquiry)
