A quantitive platform
The project has through its participants a unique access to quantitative material on how children and young people use digital media across Europe: • Sonia Livingstone: UK Children Go Online (2005) • Birgit Hertzberg Kaare: Digital childhood in Norway • Knut-Arne Futsæter: Panels from TNS Gallup • Elisabeth Staksrud: The SAFT (Safety, Awareness, Facts and Tools, European Commission Best Practice Awareness) Project, surveys with 11.000 children aged 9-16 and their parents in five European countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and Ireland). Staksrud was the international coordinator for the project and its surveys, as well as of the similar pan-European Eurobarometer survey.

- The three research questions will be handled qualitatively in selected case studies of mediatized stories. The project will relate to a quantitative platform of relevant survey data. The 'bridging studies' bridge the 'use studies' and the case studies.
