Each fall when the new school year begins, Bodø University College has a welcoming programme that assists students in becoming familiar with the city and the school. "Fadderordningen", as it is called in Norwegian, lasts for about three weeks. During this time you will get to know lots of students- many who are new like you, and quite a few of the older ones. Older students serve as "fadders". Your fadder is your personal guide that helps you get to know the school, staff, and the regulations at Bodø University College. Fadders also arrange several different activities for their groups including parties, sightseeing, and excursions. There are several large get-togethers for the entire student body and smaller ones just for the students in your academic department.
In addition, the International Office gives an orientation class with presentations from several organisations on campus, and practical information about adjusting to life in Norway and at Bodø University College. When students are ready to return home, a pre-departure seminar is also given to help facilitate the readjustment process.
