GUIDE TO THE IBM p690 Regatta

This page is the main entry point to the support pages of the IBM p690 Regatta Turbo system at Parallab. Answers to many frequently asked questions can be found here. We will do our best to keep these pages up-to-date. Please read and consult these support pages regularly, especially when you have just started using the machine.

The name of the IBM p690 Regatta system is: tre.bccs.uib.no

The system is available to staff and students from the University of Bergen, researchers that obtained quota through the NOTUR programme, staff and students from the Institute of Marine Research (Havforskningsinstituttet), and staff and students from the Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center (Nansensenteret). In addition, the system is available to Parallab partners through EU and other projects.

User support. Questions and problems can be reported to hpc-support@hpc.uib.no or support-uib@notur.no and they will be handled as soon as possible. Working hours are roughly Monday-Friday 08:00-16:00.

Contents

  • Online help and information
    • Redbooks are developed and published by IBM's International Technical Support Organization, the ITSO. The Redbooks are detailed on-line manuals and cover the whole spectrum of IBM hardware and software products. These books are highly recommended.
    • Another good starting point to search for IBM documentation.
    • ROOTVG.NET is an independent (non-profit) AIX and pSeries information portal.

  • The above information will solve most of your problems, but remains (of course) incomplete. Other HPC centres with IBM p690 installations and detailed user support pages are:
    • NCSA - National Center for Supercomputing Applications at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
    • HLRN - Konrad-Zuse-Zentrum fur Informationstechnik Berlin (ZIB) and Regionales Rechenzentrum fur Niedersachsen (RRZN)
