Prerequisites:
AS202506 French for beginners I or equivalent
Objectives:
The student will learn to understand and use French in verbal communication: reading, understanding, writing and speaking at initial-intermediate level.
Topics
Verbal training, oral and written, individually and in groups. Grammar, texts with background information from French speaking cultural area, computer based tools.
Instruction
Individual oral and written training, with special focus on oral exercises. Project work, role play, lectures, use of computers and internet as learning tools.
Mandatory Assignments
6 written assignments to be handed in for evaluation. Each student is required to have 2 oral presentations.
Evaluation
The 6 written assignments are evaluated and count for 30% of final mark. 3 hours written exam count for 30% of final mark. Approved written assignments and written exam allow the student to sit for oral examination, which counts for 40% of the final mark.
