A pilot project is currently being carried out at the Norwegian Consulate General in Edinburgh. More Norwegian Foreign Service Missions are expected to start using the Visa Portal in the following years.
The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration is focusing on electronic processing, and the Visa Portal is one of the steps taken to make everyday in the Immigration Management easier.
The aims for electronic processing are:
- to process all cases and tasks within an acceptable period of time
- to provide service to the applicants
- to develop a more flexible organization
The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration is releasing the Visa Portal in Edinburgh in September 2007 as a pilot project. This pilot project will run some months and if the pilot is successful, it is planned to roll out the Visa Portal to several Norwegian Foreign Service Missions.
