The processing time depends on a number of factors. Some applications are considered uncomplicated and can be handled at the Norwegian Foreign Service Mission. Other applications have to be sent to the Directorate of Immigration in Norway for a decision. Certain Schengen procedures may also, in some cases, influence the processing time.
See also Case-processing times (UDI).
The case officer handling your application needs as much information as possible in order to process your application as quickly as possible. It is also important that you send all required documents to the Norwegian Foreign Mission that is handling your application. Please note that incomplete applications or applications containing incorrect/inaccurate information, as well as applications with lacking documentation, may be rejected.
'Certified True Copies' can be made at Norwegian Foreign Service Mission (http://www.norway.info), including Honorary Consulates (See list of consulates).
You can apply for a visa although you do not know the exact date you intend to travel.
Please provide a daytime contact telephone number in your application, so that the case handling officer can reach you if he/she has any questions.
Please see Urgent applications for more information on what you can do to make sure that your application is processed as fast as possible.
