The school consists of three buildings; the main building, the new building, which was opened in August 1995, and the Merino building. The main and the new building make one unity and will be refered to as the main/new building. As an exchange student, you will have courses in the main and Merino buildings. The Merino building, located at sea level, was earlier connected to the two other buildings with a staircase of 176 steps - a true nightmare to all students of NHH. Luckily, this staircase has been replaced by a far more pleasant path.
Opening hours: Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-11:00 a.m. & 12 a.m.-2:30 p.m. The office for Academic and Student Affairs is situated on top of the stairs leading to the main entrance. Here you can sign up for the exams and get information about the semester programme and courses. Here you also find the student advisors, who will help you on whatever you need to know about academic matters at NHH.
Opening hours: Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-11:00 a.m. & 11:30 a.m.-1:45 p.m.
The student secretary will help you with the following matters:
There are two student cafeterias at NHH, one is in the new building and the
other one in the Merino building. Opening hours: 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.. You can get
hot meals in the cafeteria for 30-45 kroner, or soup for the price of
approximately 16 kroner.
The PC-facilities at NHH are very good. Usually the capacity of the rooms is good, but when the first year students have their introductory PC courses, it may be hard to find computers that are not occupied.
Opening hours of the computer rooms: Monday-Friday 8 a.m.- 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Both in the new building and the Merino building there is an office called "Escape", where you can be helped with your computer problems. In the new building "Escape" is located inside the PC-room, while in the Merino building you will find Escape at the next door the PC-rooms.
All students at school have access to Internet/e-mail. You will get your own user name, normally within the first couple of weeks of the semester. This user name is also needed in order to log on to the school computers. However, first you have to register and receive a user name at NHH.
There are several PC-rooms in the Merino building and 3 in the main building. Printers are located on the M-floor in Merino, close to the PC-rooms, and in the "Escape" office in the new building. Each out-print costs 0,50 kroner and you will pay for them with your NHH - studentcard.
The bookstore "Studia", situated in the new building, sells textbooks and other material needed for your studies. Opening hours: Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-3 p.m, Wednesday until 6 p.m.. The first two weeks of the semester Studia will close at 6 p.m. on weekdays, and it will also be open on Saturdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.in the beginning of the semester. At "Kompendieutsalget", located in the main building, you can buy material made especially for the courses offered at school and exam samples from recent years. Opening hours: Mon-Fri 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
The school library offers a
wide selection of books, reports, research papers and periodicals in various
business and economics subjects, and is situated in the new building. At the

Medical care in Norway is basically free, except from a fixed consultation fee of 120 kroner. The student organisation in Bergen offers professional psychological aid. You can contact them at telephone number 55 54 51 45. There is a short waiting list to use this service. A representative for The Students' Psychological Health Care visits NHH once a week.
Dental treatment is quite expensive in Norway. These costs are not refundable.
In the Merino building, there is one study hall with more than 400 seats. In the new building there are two study halls where you also can get access outside opening hours, all you need is your student ID-card. Opening hours: Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-8:45 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m.-15:45 p.m.. There is also a reading room at the Hatleberg students' residence, which is open Monday- Friday 8 a.m.-9 p.m.
The students tend to put up a name plate on the desks at Merino, and they keep their books and personal things on these desks. However, the desks are not reserved, and you are free to use any seat in the study hall.
At Merino, there are several small rooms reserved for students who want to work in study groups. 3-9 students can get together and apply for a reservation of one of these rooms for two or four hours a week. The closing date for application is September 15th. If nobody shows up within the first 15 minutes of their fixed hour, you are free to take the room. By the end of September, lists with the names of the group leaders will be put up on the doors of the group rooms.
