The Hatleberg students' residence is situated on campus. The residence consists
of four buildings, with 6 entrances all in all. The old A-block has entrances
A and B, the B-block entrances D and E, C-block has only one entrance. The
yellow F-block is the newest one. In addition comes a building in Oyjordsveien
11; this is however primarily reserved for students having lived in a
SiB-residence for a considerable period of time.
A number of rooms are reserved for foreign students. MIB students will get information directly from the International Office regarding their accommodation.
The students' residence has rooms with individual bath facilities or you share a bathroom with one other person (building
F). Two-room apartments are available for couples. A shared kitchen is available for the students on each dormitory floor. All rooms are furnished. At Hatleberg there is a telephone for in-coming calls in each room, and it is possible to get out-going connection as well, by
signing a contract in the reception, and paying a connection fee of 250 NOK, a
semester fee of 250 NOK and a sum per unit you call (charged by the tele-company). Further information will be given on arrival.
Laundry facilities are located within the complex. At Hatleberg you will also find a study hall, a TV-room, table-tennis, billiards and a solarium. In the reception you can borrow movieboxes and movies, various games and a vacuum
cleaner.
Bedcloths, pillows and quilts are not provided by Hatleberg, but can however be
bought in the reception at Hatleberg or in an ordinary store. Bedding can be
rented in the reception for guests coming for a short-time visit.
All students residing at Hatleberg receive a card to be used in the laundry room. You may have to reserve in advance. One machineload costs NOK 15 and drying costs NOK 10 (2003). All students are required to bring their own laundry detergent.
Kitchen utensils are not provided at the student residence.
You may be able to borrow from others, but you must ask beforehand and of course clean everything immediately after use. It is only the stove, the microwave oven, the fridge and the freezer that are for common use.
Upon arrival at Hatleberg the student must fill in a form of application, so that the rental contract can be completed.
The contract must be signed immediately and the deposit must be paid on arrival. The deposit will be returned to you after you are back in your home country, it may NOT be used to pay last months rent!
Autumn semester
The contract is valid from 1 August to 31 December. The room is reserved from this date, and the rent must be paid from 1 August, even if you arrive in September.
Spring semester
The contract is normally valid from 1 January to 31 July. Even if the student arrives in the middle of the month, the rent must be paid for the whole month.
NB! If a student should wish to resign from the contract, this must be done one month prior to leaving ( one month counting from the 1st in the following month after the resignation is received).
You will have Internet access at school, but you can also have access from your room. This service is free, so if you have the opportunity you can bring your own personal computer. Just remember that you need a network card too access the Internet.
