For more information about student housing in Bergen, please visit the web site of the Student Welfare Organisation in Bergen.
NOTE: Visiting researchers who are interested to rent a room at a student hostel must contact the host department at the University of Bergen for assistance. The SiB wants to communicate directly with the host department about housing for visiting researchers.
Private housing
Housing for visiting researchers offered through the University of Bergen is limited. The demand for renting a university apartment by far exceeds existing facilities. Private housing is therefore an option that should be duly considered. The following links (in Norwegian only) may be useful for renting an apartment. You may need assistance from your host department to take fully advantage of the two web sites.
For shorter stays (e.g less than a month) it may be more relevant to book a room at one of the many guest houses, pensions or apartment hotels in Bergen. For more information and an overview, go to the Bergen Tourist Board accommodation website.
Buying property
If you consider to buy property, there are a number of real estate agents operating in Bergen. The Norwegian Association of Real Estate Agents assembles government authorized real estate agents, and gives important information to buyers of houses and flats.
