Students with disabilities

The University of Tromsø aims to provide equal opportunities and good educational options for all students, including those who have some form of disability. The aim is to make the necessary adaptations so that any disadvantages the disability causes are rectified to the greatest extent possible.

Adaptations to enable access to the study venue, access to academic literature and accessible education are essential. The majority of the university’s buildings are new and modern and comply with the current standards and regulations.

All faculties/departments have designated contact people for students with disabilities.

The University of Tromsø has a separate plan of action for students with disabilities. The plan was adopted by the University Board on October 13, 2005 and a summary of this plan in English will soon be posted on this website. The plan applies until 2008. A full copy of the plan (in Norwegian) is available from the Department of Research and Academic Affairs.

The Learning Environment Committee also has a special responsibility to follow up this plan. The making of necessary adaptations for examinations is specified in the University of Tromsø’s regulations for examinations.
