Semester registration Spring 2007
Registration period:
January 2, 2007 – February 1, 2007
All students must register and enter for examinations each semester.
NB: The deadline for registering for early, postponed and re-sitting examinations is January 15! Such registrations cannot be made on line. They must be made on forms which are available at the Department of Research and Academic Affairs.
Paying the semester fee
The semester fee is payable to the Student Welfare Organisation in Tromsø. A new arrangement for payment of semester fees was introduced in the Spring semester 2006. Students (with valid right to study) connected to a programme of study will no longer receive a giro. Students must instead access payment information on the student web.
Giro forms will still be sent to new students.
Web registration
On-line registration is possible between one and five days after payment of the semester fee.
Click on the following address to pay your semester fee:
https://studweb.uit.no/isapi/WebObjects.dll/studentweb?inst=uit
Log in using your birth date and personal identity number and the pin code listed on the giro. Remember the pin code! You will need it you need to change your examination registrations later in the semester, for future semester registrations and examination entries and to check your examination results.

A receipt confirming registration will be sent in the post a few days after the registration is completed.
Web registration at the university campus:
If you do not have access to a computer, you can also complete your registration on one of the computers at the university campus.
You are welcome to use one of the computers at the Student Information Office in the Department of Research and Academic Affairs. The office is located beside the book shop on the first floor of the Central Administration Building.
Student cards
Student cards are issued at the Student Information Office in the Department of Research and Academic Affairs on the first floor of the Central Administration Building.
In order to receive a student card, your semester fee must be paid and you must be registered as a student. You must also bring valid proof of identity with you. Photos to be used on the student card are taken at the Department of Research and Academic Affairs.
The student card can also be used as a key/access card. It can be activated at the ID-office in Teorifagbygget (next to the Orakel service, House 2). Opening hours: 12-14, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Please look after your student card. Your first student card is issued free of charge. However, we currently charge a fee of NOK 100 when additional cards are issued to the same student.
Study loans
From the autumn semester 2005, the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund will introduce a new system for payment of scholarships and study loans. Written conformation of the loan will now be sent direct to the student, rather than being issued at UiT, which has previously been the case. When applying for your scholarship/study loan, you choose if you want to receive written conformation of the loan in printed or electronic format. When you have received written conformation of the loan, you must sign it and return it to the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund. After verifying your account number and your right to sit the examination at the university at which you applied for financial support, the funds will be transferred to your bank account.
Norwegian Students’ and Academics’ International Assistance Fund (SAIH)
A contribution of NOK 20 from each student’s NOK 420 semester fee goes to the Norwegian Students’ and Academics’ International Assistance Fund (SAIH). The student bodies at both the University of Tromsø and the Tromsø University College encourage students to support SAIH. However, students who choose not to, have the option of altering the amount payable on the giro from NOK 420 to NOK 400.
