Definitions
Quality of framework is a term for how well the learning environment as a whole and the other resource-related conditions a programme of study exists within are organised.
The physical learning environment is the physical surroundings in the teaching situation which can influence the individual student’s ability to learn. Examples of physical learning environment include indoor climate, availability of rooms, cleanliness, maintenance and safety.
The psychosocial learning environment covers psychological and social factors which have a consequence on enjoyment, health and efficiency at the place of learning. This includes inter-personal relations. Social environment, culture and welfare contribute to advancing the psychosocial learning environment. Signs of failings in the psychosocial learning environment may include students finding it difficult to manage co-operation in the student group or to gain help from their supervisor.
Organisational learning environment deals with system conditions such as arranging, distribution and management of work tasks. Arrangements for teaching, the flow of information and feedback to students also form an important part of the learning environment.
