Introduction
Norwegian law requires that all Government departments publish a service statement. This also applies for the University of Tromsø.
The Department of Research and Academic Affairs is part of the university’s central administration. The department handles political questions and strategy concerning research and education as well as a host of management tasks, such as student intake, student registration, handling of examinations, sending out of diplomas, preparation of statistics and prognoses, and providing information and advice relating to studies and carrier options. Other important tasks are quality assurance and enhancement of the university’s educational programmes, including the students’ learning environment.
The Department of Research and Academic Affairs is a service unit for the entire university. As students are the main users of our services, we have decided to aim this service statement particularly towards students and entrants to the University of Tromsø.
The service statement details the services we offer students and what students can expect from us. The aim is to provide a clear and precise summary of our most important tasks and an orientation of the content and quality of our services.
The service statement also details what expectations we have when you require service from the Department of Research and Academic Affairs.
The staff at the Department of Research and Academic Affairs hope this service statement provides useful information about our role. We hope you will contact us if you have feedback or suggested improvements for specific areas. This will enable us to further develop our services and hopefully provide an even higher level of service to current and future students at the University of Tromsø.
We would like to make you aware that a service statement is a statement of intention and not a legally binding document. For information about students’ legal rights, you can refer to Information about laws, regulations and directions on this website.
