About InterMedia

InterMedia investigates the intersections between design, communication and learning in digital environments. Our approach is multidisciplinary and involves critical research, development and experiments.

The research activities are organised in four clusters: Design and Learning in Education, ICT and Learning at Work, Communication Design and CaseDesign.

InterMedia's composite staff consist of both researchers and a development lab. The centre engage people with disciplinary backgrounds from three main areas: Educational/learning science, computer science/information systems and media studies.

InterMedia's organization is project-based and collaborative. In our research projects we work together in teams that cross fields of knowledge.

All activities at InterMedia are related to external networks and partners, with an increased involvement in EU projects. InterMedia coordinates strategic research activities at the University of Oslo: CMC - Competence and Media Convergence (2002-2007) and Digital Design (2006-2009).

InterMedia's interdisciplinary and collaborative approach and focus on both research and development result in manifold outcomes, ranging from scientific publications and presentations to digital environments and video-based productions for learning, communication and research dissemination.

InterMedia is also involved in research education.
